Best Aerospace Engineering Schools

1. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)

MIT is famous for its engineering program and constantly ranked among top universities in the US and in the world. The Department of Aerospace and Astronautics is the aerospace engineering school of MIT and offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

The undergraduate program leads to a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering which takes four years to complete. The graduate degree programs result to a Master of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Doctor of Philosophy, and Doctor of Science.

Aspirants for the undergraduate degree program will have to go through the same admission requirements for a normal engineering program but foreign scholars will have to satisfy the English language conditions. The minimum score of TOEFL is 100 on the internet- based test or a minimum of 7.0 for the IELTS – this applies to both graduate and undergraduate aspirants. Graduates will further hand over three letters of recommendation, a statement of objectives, and have a strong background in mathematical and physical sciences and/or engineering.

2. California Institute of Technology (Caltech)

 The California Institute of Technology, popularly known as Caltech, is located in Pasadena, California, United States. It ranks top among the best aerospace engineering schools. The institution is ranked 4th by the U.S News for top engineering programs in the world and the aerospace engineering program is ranked 1st in the world. Caltech has a Department of Aerospace that offers Aeronautics and Space Engineering as a graduate degree program and Aerospace Minor for the undergraduate degree.

The graduate degree (Master’s and Ph.D.) in aeronautics takes one year to complete and consists of a set of five core courses and it requires no research or thesis to acquire the degree. Scholars whose highest qualification is a bachelor degree equivalent to that given by the Institute are eligible to seek admission to work toward the graduate degree.

To apply, you’ll be requested to submit course transcripts and letters of recommendation, and English language proficiency test scores.

3. Stanford University

The Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics prepares scholars for professional positions in the industry, government, and academia by offering a comprehensive program of undergraduate and graduate tutoring and research. The program is a broad one and allows scholars the chance to learn and integrate multiple engineering disciplines.

Courses in the tutoring program lead to the degrees of Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, Engineer, and Doctor of Philosophy. Undergraduates and doctoral scholars in other departments may also opt a minor in Aeronautics and Astronautics. Requirements for all degrees include courses on introductory topics in Aeronautics and Astronautics, as well as in mathematics, and related fields in engineering and the sciences.

You can apply directly to the Ph.D. program straight from bachelor’s and do n’t have to meet the common demand of completing a master’s degree first. You ’ll also need letters of recommendation, transcripts, application form, and GRE/ TOEFL scores.

4. Georgia Institute of Technology

The Georgia Institute of Technology, popularly known as Georgia Tech, houses the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering. It’s one of the best aerospace engineering schools in the world with a lot of top-ranking figures in the field. The undergraduate aerospace engineering program is ranked no. 2 by the US News and World Report, the graduate program is ranked no. 4 by the US News and World Report, the Daniel Guggenheim School is the top producer of aerospace engineering masters and doctoral degrees.

Entry demands include a TOEFL or IELTS score of 90 and7.0 respectively for foreign scholars, GRE is accepted, letters of recommendations, statement of purpose, and a completed bachelor’s degree in an engineering program are needed for master’s aspirant.

The tuition cost for in- state scholars is$ per time while out-of- state scholars pay$ per year, both are full- time payments.

5. Purdue University

Purdue University is located in West Lafayette, Indiana, United States and it’s ranked by U.S News and World Report among the best aerospace engineering schools in the world. The School of Aeronautics and Astronautics is the department that offers degree programs in aerospace engineering. The degrees offered are MS non-thesis program, MS thesis program, Ph.D. program, combined MS/ MBA, and combined BSAAE/ MSAA.

The GPA demand for MS admission is a minimum of3.25 and3.5 for Ph.D. admission, you ’ll also need a statement of purpose, online application, official transcripts, three letters of recommendation, GRE scores – verbal 156, quantitative 159, and analytical40 – TOEFL score of 80, and resume. The education fee for in- state scholars is$ and$ for out-of- state scholars per time.

6. University of Illinois

Established in 1867 and located in the twin metropolises of Champaign and Urbana, the Department of Aerospace Engineering is one of the best aerospace engineering schools in the world. Its undergraduate aerospace engineering program is ranked 9th in the world and the graduate program is ranked 6th in the world. The department was established in 1944 by Prof. H.S Stillwell.

Admission requires a GPA of3.0 on a scale of4.0, GRE is accepted, minimum TOEFL score of 103, academic transcripts, statement of purpose, three letters of reference, and a completed bachelor degree in engineering or related field for graduate aspirants.

7. The University of Texas at Austin

The Cockrell School of Engineering is the engineering school of the University of Texas that offers aeronautical and aerospace degree programs in bachelor, master’s, and Ph.D. The Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at the University of Texas at Austin is one of the best aerospace engineering schools in the world.

It’s an interdisciplinary department with tutoring and research activities in astronautics, earth- space engineering and science, aeronautics, energy, robotics, theoretical and experimental mechanics, and computational engineering.
